Do you need help in shifting your Depression...Acupuncture works?
Acupuncture is an absolutely fantastic all natural cure in treating depression. It works on all levels to get your chi flowing and your stagnant energy moving. Chinese Medicine have always considered the connection between mind and body to be inseparable. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) does not recognize depression as a particular illness per se, but it aims to treat the specific symptoms that are unique to the individual using a variety of techniques such as acupuncture, Chinese herbs, tui-na massage, and energetic exercises to restore imbalances found in the body. Based on a holistic approach, acupuncture consists of fine needles inserted along various points in the body, with the purpose of stimulating the body's flow of energy and functionality, known as Chi. Though it has been traditionally taught as a preventive form of health care, it has also been proven effective in the treatment of pain and chronic conditions. We suggest you find yourself a good acupuncturist to help you budge your depression. Make things easier for yourself....you don't have to do it alone. Think of your depression - it's like a big muddy bog of stuckness. Acupuncture will help to move this stuckness from your mind, emotions and body! It will also work with all your organ systems and your musculo-skeletal problems and pain. All in all it is a simple and highly effective way to work with depression...and all you have to do is turn up for your appointment and let your skilled practitioner take care of the treatment! And don't be scared of the acupuncture needles....it doesn't hurt! Chinese Medicine sees depression as occurring as a result of repressing specific emotions, such as grief, anger, or fear, which then in turn, creates physical blockages. To alleviate the depression, you need to release the blocked emotion. This,in turn, releases the physical blockages. Depression can feel like a form of extreme exhaustion. You want to get better but just do not feel like you have the energy to do so. Each case of depression has the common thread of having a poor state of mind that you can't seem to climb out of. In Chinese medicine, depression is considered a problem of constraint, called Yu. The Liver is the primary organ related. It is the Liver's job to circulate the vital energy of the body - the Chi. The vital energy stagnates, as does the Liver, and a a result digestion, energy and sleep are affected. If the condition persists, there will be further stagnations of heat, phlegm and blood, which can possibly lead to mania, mental cloudiness and body pains. Heart and Spleen may then also stagnate, creating poor memory and fatigue. The Heart and the Spleen play secondary roles. The following are some acupressure points you can use at home to alleviate mild depression. Acupressure is performed by applying firm, steady pressure to (or rubbing briskly) specific points on the body. These points are the same points your acupuncturist will use. Acupressure is useful in alleviating many of the physical symptoms of depression, including the general boggy sluggishness mentioned above. Head Points These consist of 3 points all located on the top of the head : 1. Anterior Summit (GV21)2. One Hundred Meeting Point (GV20)3. Posterior Summit (GV19) 1. Begin with the middle point, GV20. Place your left thumb on the top of your left ear and your right thumb on top of your right ear. Move your fingertips toward the top of your head and feel for a hollow near the top centre of your head. There will be a slight dip of depression in the skull here...know as a fontanel. 2. GV19 is also situated in a hollow which lies approximately one inch behind GV20. Run your fings from GC20 towards the back of your head and you will feel it. 3. GV21 lies one inch in front of GV20. Gently apply firm and steady pressure to these points, one at a time. As you do, you will feel your body relax and your tension and depression slip away. Gentle (and easy) relief!
